As you can tell from the video shown here, there is quite a difference between the GoPro and the HoistCam camera system. While both are great products, the HoistCam is designed to withstand much more punishment and work in places that the GoPro never could. For example, while the GoPro is terrific around cars and people in temporary situations, it was not built for day to day operations and workloads. The more rugged HoistCam can stand up to daily jobs in rough areas, such as construction sites and heavy traffic.
The GoPro is also a bit slack in its run time. It is good for consumers who need no more than about an hour or two before needing recharging. The HoistCam can actually run from eight to twenty-four hours, and even comes with a set of back up batteries to keep it going even longer. With these interchangeable battery packs, the HoistCam can remain on the equipment indefinitely.
While the GoPro is a great WiFi enabled device that has a range of about one hundred to two hundred feet, the HoistCam has a range of fifteen hundred to two thousand feet. This distance is much better for construction sites and work areas where crane operators need to be able to see long distances and down to the ground. Also, the GoPro lens is fixed, and once the camera is attached to any object, you cannot move the lens for clearer visibility. The lens on the HoistCam can be oriented and the angles can be changed to see anywhere on the job site. The HoistCam itself is also easily moved, to create even more visible space.
The GoPro also comes with a small but adequate safety lanyard, while the Hoistcam kit comes with a much larger and more durable safety lanyard to protect in case of an accident. Enterprise level features, such as HoistCam Director and HoistCam Site Tracker Service, are not available with the GoPro. With these features, you can monitor, record, and even do 3D analytics. You can do none of these with the GoPro. While the GoPro is a great device for consumers, the HoistCam is obviously a better, more durable choice for commercial environments.
