When HoistCam was invented in 2012, many different types of cases were tested. HoistCam designed the case to meet the varying requirements across marine, construction, industrial and transportation industries. In each of the environments, we would encounter the need for:
- Durability – the material cannot degrade and if the case were to be damaged, the form of the case would not change (i.e. a dent)
- Impact resistance – if the case was dropped, it would rebound well
- Temperature tolerance – use in environments of 140F to -20F
- Longevity – endure grease, dirt and protection from sunlight including UV rays
- Water tight and buoyant – the system would need to float in the event it was accidentally dropped into a river, lake or ocean
- Light weight – carrying and installing on equipment needs to be effortless
- Corrosion and Chemical Proof – the case would go into salt water environments and areas where grease and chemicals may be used
We needed something the military would use and a metal case would not hold up to these requirements.
The only case that we found would work was a case with military grade specifications. Here is what we came up with and why we use the yellow HoistCam case that we use today:
- Ultra High Impact structural copolymer
- Watertight, crushproof, and dustproof
- Automatic purge valve for quick equalization after changes in atmospheric pressure
- Shipping certified – FED-STD-101C
- Tested to MIL-STD-810F (Military Standard)
- IP-67 (Ingress Protection)
- ATA (Air Transportation Association) – ATA 300
- Two Press & Pull Latches
- Two Padlockable Hasps
- Double-layered, Soft-grip Handle
HoistCam is not an ordinary system and performs in the most extraordinary conditions. HoistCam is designed to last and comes with an industry leading warranty with proof of performance in the field.
