Marine ports and equipment have critical timing requirements when loading and unloading from a vessel. Often times, the crane operator has no direct line-of-sight with the load. When this happens, it is known as a “blind spot.” By bringing the line of vision to the operator, HoistCam eliminates these blind spots, increases safety, and significantly improves productivity for the operator and the vessel’s captain. HoistCam can be used for loading and unloading cargo from inside of the hull of vessels. A case study found almost 60% increase in productivity from using the HoistCam to load and unload the vessels. Pictures and video are below.
Description: The following case study is an example of how the HoistCam camera system for cranes can be used virtually anywhere in the shipyard. The HoistCam™ rugged housing and wireless transmission capabilities allows it to be placed anywhere. This video provides an example case study with pictures of how the rigger and crane operator use the HoistCam to assist them with a blind lift of cold rolled steel from inside the hull of a cargo ship. The results of using the HoistCam increased the safety rating above 90% and the efficiency of the unloading was reduced from 9 hours to 4 hours. This is a 55%+ increase in productivity and efficiency. This increase in efficiency was due to the lift no longer being a blind lift from inside the hull of the cargo ship.
Virtual all types of HoistCam platforms are supported.
HoistCam can operate on various types of maritime equipment. Below is an example list of types of equipment HoistCam has been installed on in the past.
